Empty Yourself First

"A famous scholar came to learn about Zen.The teacher served him tea. He filled the cup with tea,and carried on pouring so that the cup overflowed. 'It is full ! No more will go in !' the scholar said. 'Like this cup,' the teacher said, 'you are full of your own opinions. How can I teach you about Zen unless you first empty yourself ?' "
